Residents across the greater-Racine area are invited to provide feedback and input on draft recommendations for a master bike path plan.
The meeting is from 5 to 8 p.m. August 17 at Festival Hall.
Representatives from the city’s health department and the Wisconsin Bike Federation got started on a plan last year to map and plan bikeways. An initial community meeting last October attracted more than 70 residents from across the area.
More feedback and input is needed now that some draft recommendations are ready for review.
“Attendees should include people who are interested in seeing an improvement to the bike / pedestrian routes in the City of Racine, Village of Elmwood Park and Village of Wind Point, whether they are used for recreation or transportation,” said Dottie-Kay Bowersox, Racine’s public health administrator.
Organizers hope to:
- Identify routes currently used for bicycling or that people would like to use
- Look at barriers to bicycling or bicycling destination
- Find ways to connect City of Racine bike lanes and paths to those in neighboring communities
The formal presentation begins at 5:30 followed by informal question-and-answer conversations.
