A wonderful life — Mary Ann Svoboda, 101, passed away Wednesday at The Villa at Lincoln Park. Born in Racine, July 18, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Nee: Halcsik) Walek and was a lifelong Racine resident.
On June 7, 1941 she married Edward J. Svoboda, who preceded her in death in 1994. Mary retired from Goldblatts after 25 years of service. An active and longtime member of St. Lucy Catholic Church, Mary had a great zest for life. She bowled up until she turned 90. She golfed in her younger years, worked many years at the voting polls, knitted, played bingo, and loved bird watching. Most of all, she cherished time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her sister, Cele Muelver of Racine; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother and sisters, Joseph (Mildred) Walek, Elizabeth (Walter) Malchow, Lucille (Vaughn) Rasmussen; and brother-in- law, Robert Muelver.
