Investigators with the Racine County Sheriff’s Department say a 37-year-old Racine man was downloading child pornography videos and images.
Elmer Golon was charged Wednesday in Racine County Circuit Court with three felony counts of possession of child pornography and one misdemeanor count of marijuana possession. If convicted, he faces up to 75-1/2 years in prison and/or up to $301,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint, investigators on August 13 were participating in an operation with the Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children initiative looking at files on BitTorrent, a file-sharing server known by child porn consumers where they download videos and pictures. During the course of their investigation they located a file containing a series depicting a 10-year-old girl performing sex acts on her father.
Investigators say an IP address led them to Golon’s home where they executed a search warrant Tuesday and found three videos of young children engaged in a variety of sex acts with each other and adult males. Golon was taken into custody and booked into the Racine County Jail.
He was assigned a $40,000 cash bond during his initial appearance Wednesday and will next be in court Sept. 7 for his preliminary hearing.
