Indian Motorcycle on 6th Street is expanding into the bar-restaurant business with the addition of a bar/grill and an outdoor deck.

Once the eatery is completed, it will seat around 140 guests; 100 inside and up to 40 on the deck.

Mark Porcaro and Ray Stibeck (of Route 20 Outhouse) plan to expand the motorcycle dealership’s building into the vacant lot where the former Park 6 stood, they told The Journal Times.

The name of the restaurant – Thunderstroke – comes from the engine that gives Indian Motorcycles their signature purr, the story continues. Porcaro and Stibeck hope to start building shortly after Labor Day and open in November, pending approvals from the city.

Thunderstroke will open from 10 a.m. until bar time, Stibeck told the newspaper, and the deck will offer perfect viewing for both the St. Patrick’s Day and holiday parades.

“We’re building it as a destination, to create an economic impact for Downtown,” he is quoted as saying.

With off-street parking and a possible shuttle between Route 20 and Thunderstroke, Stibeck hopes to bring more people into Racine who might go to a concert at Route 20 but then want to visit the city without having to drive.
