Following a drug raid at a Douglas Avenue residence, four people were charged after officials from the Racine County Sheriff’s Department found LSD, mushrooms, ecstasy, cocaine and marijuana in the home.

Dragan Ilic, 33, of Racine, Benjamin Verstynen, 36, of Racine, and Rae Lynn Brayden, 20, of Kenosha, were charged by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office with numerous drug charges.

Ilic was charged with possession with intent to deliver psilocin, possession of marijuana, maintaining a drug trafficking place and possess of drug paraphernalia. If convicted of all charges, Ilic faces up to 29 years in prison and/or fined up to $45,500.
Verstynen was charged with possession with intent to deliver LSD, psilocin mushrooms, marijuana, and cocaine; possession of a controlled substance, possession drug paraphernalia and maintaining a drug trafficking place. If convicted on all charges, Verstynen faces up to 47 years two months in prison and/or fined up to $121,500.
Brayden was charged with possession with intent to deliver LSD and possession of marijuana. If convicted of both charges, she faces up to 10 years six months in prison and/or fined up to $26,000.
A fourth person, a 17-year-old boy, was found inside the home, but it was determined that he didn’t live at the house and he was charged with possession of marijuana.

According to the criminal complaint, the Racine County Metro Drug Unit served a search warrant on August 23 at the residence where the three lived. While there, investigators learned that Brayden was Verstynen’s girlfriend, and Ilic lived with the couple.

Investigators with the drug unit found 163 LSD hits, marijuana, and evidence of drug transactions in Brayden and Verstynen’s bedroom. But Verstynen told police that all of the controlled substance found in the home were his and that he uses the drugs for personal use. However, when asked how long he had been selling drugs, he told them he had been selling them his whole life.

Ilic told police none of the drugs were his, only the roaches in his room. But he told officers that he was unemployed and his only source of income was selling trading cards on eBay.

During the search, investigators also found cash, bags of cocaine, marijuana, mushrooms, ecstasy, a digital scale, pill crushers, and other drug paraphernalia.

Ilic is free on a $10,000 signature bond. A preliminary hearing has been set for 8:30 a.m. Nov. 30 in front of Racine County Court Commissioner Alice Rudebusch.

Verstynen’s initial appearance was rescheduled to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 29. Brayden is expected to have her initial appearance at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 30.
