A 27-year-old Caledonia man, who had just graduated from a drug rehabilitation program, overdosed on heroin at 7:09 p.m. Tuesday.

Caledonia and Wind Point police, and rescue workers from the Caledonia Fire Department were called to a home in the 400 block of 3 Mile Road for a possible overdose. After law enforcement officials arrived on scene, the man was found pulseless and not breathing. They began CPR and officers gave the man two doses of Narcan, which helps reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

As they continued CPR, they noticed the man was able to breathe again and they were able to find a pulse.

When rescue personnel got to the home, they took over the lifesaving efforts. The man was taken to Ascension-All Saints Hospital and admitted for treatment. He told police he had just graduated from the two-year drug treatment program at 3 p.m.

He was arrested for possession of narcotic drugs, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
