A Racine woman was driving drunk and left the scene of a crash that injured another driver, according to court records.
Valerie A. Majeska, 42, is charged with hit-and-run causing injury and drunken driving causing injury for the crash near the intersection of Douglas and Carlton avenues on Oct. 4.
The criminal complaint filed against her states that a woman was driving north on Douglas Avenue while Majeska was driving south. Majeska turned left in front of the other woman, causing a collision, the complaint states.
An off-duty Racine County deputy followed Majeska home. When officers arrived, she was being treated by medical personnel. Officers said she had difficulty answering questions, and that they could smell alcohol.
She gave a breath sample, which had a value of 0.11; the legal limit for alcohol is 0.08.
Majeska appeared in court Wednesday, but did not have an attorney. Another hearing has been set for next week.
