Dimitris “Jim” Loukidis, 80, passed away Friday at Ascension All Saints Hospital. Born Nov. 5, 1936 in Athens, Greece, Jim came to Milwaukee in 1954 as a foreign student. He graduated from Indiana Tech as a mechanical engineer in 1960.
He married Barbara Schuppie on Nov. 26, 1960 in Milwaukee. Jim was a partner for many years at Famco Machine Co. in Kenosha and later at Wisconsin Automated in Oshkosh. Over the years, he was involved in various business ventures with his partner, Paul Ehrlich. Jim was a dedicated member of Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church in Racine and St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church in Naples, FL. He and Barbara spent the past 15 years wintering in Naples where he enjoyed golf. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara; his sister, Aleka Apostolidou and family of Greece; his children, Linda and Gordon Phillips of Hanover, NH, Deno and Laura Loukidis of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Alexandra, Lauren and Gregory Phillips, Matthew, David, Nicholas, Ella, and Ayden Loukidis; in-laws, Carl (the late Audrey)Schuppie, Richard and Marlene Goll, Tim and Dianne Davis; godsons, George Papulis and Jason Gianou; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Maresh-Meredith Funeral Home, 803 Main St. with a Trisagion Prayer Service at 6:30 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, 1335 S. Green Bay Rd with Fr. Peter Papademetriou and Fr. Douglas Papulis officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Kimissis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church or St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church in Naples, FL have been suggested.
