A woman was hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries following a two-car crash that happened at 9:28 p.m. Thursday on North Green Bay Road just north of Meadowbrook Country Club.
Fire and rescue personnel from the South Shore Fire Department and the Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to the scene. A woman driving a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier stopped to pick up someone she knew when a man driving a 2009 Dodge Ram pick-up truck crashed into the Chevrolet. Due to the damage, the woman was trapped inside the car and she had to be extricated out of the car, according to a press release issued by the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
According to a source with the South Shore Fire Department, the car was up on its wheels.
Mount Pleasant Police had the south bound lanes of traffic from MM and Highway 31 blocked off. One lane of southbound traffic on Highway 31 was also blocked. The woman was taken by ambulance to Ascension-All Saints Hospital.
“Driver impairment is not believed to be a contributing factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation,” the press release reads.
