A Racine teenager was arrested Wednesday en route to deliver roughly a quarter pound of marijuana.
Racine Police obtained information that Robert Chambliss, 17, was being driven by a friend Lazhaun West of Racine, 18, to deliver the marijuana to a house on Hayes Avenue that day, according to criminal complaints by the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.
Officers pulled the Chrysler 300 over on Osborne Avenue after noticing Chambliss was not wearing a seatbelt.
Immediately noticing the smell of marijuana, police searched the vehicle. When police attempted to arrest Chambliss, he resisted police to the point that officers had to knee him in the abdomen several times.
While wrestling with the suspect, a .45 caliber pistol — later found to contain four bullets — fell out of the bottom of the suspect’s pants, the complaint reads. Chambliss also fought with jail staff and $265 fell out of the teenager’s shoe.
Officers recovered two cell phones, a digital scale and about 136 grams of marijuana.
After arresting Chambliss, officers executed a search warrant at his parents home where he lives. In his bedroom they recovered over a pound of marijuana, paraphernalia, gram scales, documents and $2,000.
Chambliss is being held on a $7,500 bond for possession with intent to distribute, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest and maintaining a drug trafficking place. West is being charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
