Six adults, six children and a pet have been displaced after a fire ripped through a side-by-side home at 10:16 a.m. Monday at 112 and 114 North Memorial Drive.
No one was injured in the fire. The cause and origin of the fire is still under investigation, according to a press release by the Racine Fire Department.
Firefighters from Engine 1 knocked down the fire quickly while rescue personnel from Med 3 searched the building for remaining occupants. All six adults, six children and a pet were accounted for by rescue workers. Once the fire was out, the property was turned over to the homeowners.
The tenants, however, have all been displaced and the Red Cross has been providing assistance to them.
The fire remains under investigation. The estimated loss is $40,000.
