Olatoye ‘Ola’ Baiyewu, of First Choice Pre-Apprenticeship Training, received an exemplary service award from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for his work in helping to staff the reconstruction of the North/South Interstate 94 project.
Baiyewu helped recruit, train and place road construction trainees for the project, which spanned from the Illinois border to the tunnel in Milwaukee. His work also helped with staffing the Hoan Bridge rehabilitation and the Zoo Interchange project.
His work helped residents of Racine and Kenosha find jobs and apprenticeship programs that led to a journeyman level that had a median income level of $84,000 including benefits.
