A Racine man was charged Thursday with his fourth OWI after police found his SUV crashed in a ditch near the intersection of Hwy 11 and 59th Street Tuesday.

Shalyn Kreil, 39, was found passed out in the driver’s seat. When an officer with the Racine Police Department asked him how he ended up in the ditch, he responded saying he had a tooth pulled that day. The officer thought Kreil was under the influence of something and searched the vehicle, which smelled like marijuana, according to the criminal complaint.

The officer found a number of items consistent with heroin use, such as cotton balls and needles. Also found were a few prescription pills. Kreil later admitted to using marijuana and heroin earlier in the day.

He’s being charged with an OWI, possession of THC, drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance, as well as four counts of felony bail jumping.
