Art is in the April spring air in Racine County. You’re invited to experience art and artists in a variety of ways throughout the month.

To most people, PEEPS are a colorful marshmallow candy but at the Racine Art Museum (RAM), 441 Main St., they’re art! RAM’s 8th Annual International PEEPS Art Competition runs April 6 through 23. Dozens of artists of all ages have transformed the candy into three-dimensional works of art. You’re invited to see the creativity and cast your vote for the PEEPle’s Choice Award. RAM is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; 12 to 5 p.m. Sunday (closed Easter Sunday, April 16). Admission. See a preview at www.ramart.org

Downtown Racine and the local arts community are showcased at the year’s first DRAW (Downtown Racine Art Walk) on Saturday, April 15 from 3 to 7 p.m. The free event includes artist demonstrations, gallery showings, music and food. Maps and details at www.racinedowntown.com

Get Behind the Arts 2017 is a rare opportunity meet artists in their workspaces. This year’s event features more than 80 sites throughout the Racine and Kenosha area. Racine studios are open 11 a..m to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 29. Kenosha locations are open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 30. A $5 donation buys a button for admission to all sites both days. Enjoy live, local theater at two spots this month. The Racine Theatre Guild, 2519 Northwestern Ave., presents “The Iliad, the Odyssey and All of Greek Mythology in 99 Minutes or Less.” Described as a comedy highlight reel of classic stories, the play is presented weekends April 1 through 9. The spring Easter season brings a pair of family events to the area. The Big Bunny Celebration includes a puppet show, egg hunt, treats and photos at Apple Holler Farm, 5006 S. Jean’s Jazz Series wraps up its 16th season with a swinging evening on Saturday, April 15 on the Racine Theatre Guild stage, 2519 Northwestern Ave. The Rhythm Rockets from Chicago perform classic rhythm and blues from the 1940s through the ’60s.
