A Racine man has been charged for the 2016 murder of a delivery driver.

Alex T. Adams, 28, is accused of shooting James Norris, 37, a delivery driver for Super Steaks and Lemonade during a botched robbery on the 3900 block of Green Street.

Norris was the father of four children and his wife Stacy is blind.

Officers with the Racine Police Department were tipped off to Adams as a potential suspect through Racine County Crime Stoppers, according to a criminal complaint.

2016. Adams had apparently asked the witness to join him in robberies in the past.

Two days after the murder, Adams went to another Racine man and gave him a .38 revolver as well as some ammunition. Adams allegedly told the man,: “I had to shoot him,” and “I wasn’t trying to do it it just happened.”

A firearms expert confirmed told police the gun was used in the murder of the delivery driver.

During the investigation, police also recovered security footage from Walmart on 3049 S. Oaks Road, shows Adams purchasing the kind of ammunition he gave to the man to hide.

Adams was already detained after being arrested on another warrant. He is charged with first degree intentional homicide and armed robbery.
