A man was arrested after leading Racine Police officers in a dangerous high-speed chase Wednesday.

Tabiano T. Avila, 25, of Racine, was also a suspect in a Feb. 2016 car chase. After police apprehended him Wednesday they searched his home finding drugs and guns, according to a criminal complaint by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.

The chase began near Illinois Street and Westway Avenue when a police officer attempted to pull Avila over for an illegal window tint.

Avila sped off after the officer exited his vehicle and was chased by police through residential areas and down alleys reaching speeds of 60 mph.

A wheel on Avila’s car came off on West High Street and officers arrested him. While searching his vehicle they found four bags of marijuana totaling 19 grams, two cell phones and two boxes of plastic baggies.

A search warrant was executed at his home within the 1300 block of Chatham Street the same day and turned up more than 300 grams of marijuana, about 3 grams of cocaine, 3 pistols, ammunition and materials for packaging drugs.

Avila is charged with five counts of felony bail jumping, resisting or obstructing an officer, flee an officer in a vehicle, first degree recklessly endangering safety, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of a firearm as a felon.
