United Way Worldwide recognized the United Way of Racine County for its effort in bringing groups of citizens together to talk about issues that they care about called Community Conversations.
During a keynote speech at an international conference, Brian Gallagher, chief executive officer of United Way Worldwide, called Community Conversations one of the “most effective community impact organizations” in the country.
“People wanted those conversations,” Gallagher said. “They needed a place and an organization they could trust to bring them together.”
United Way of Racine County has hosted dozens of Community Conversations meetings since 2013. Key topics included race and equity. An initiative of United Way of Racine County President’s Rodney Prunty’s, those conversations have helped drive the focus of United Way of Racine County.
“I appreciate Brian’s encouraging words and am extremely proud of the hard work the team has put into bringing our community together to have courageous conversations,” Prunty said. “United Way of Racine County, with its partners, is committed to building bridges in Racine County.”
Gallagher highlighted the work the United Way of Racine County is doing to fight for health, education, and financial stability of every person in Racine County.
“Today United Way of Racine County is seen as one of the most effective community impact, social change organizations in the U.S. It’s in the top 10 percent of per capita giving to any United Way in the United States. Their community supports their work,” Gallagher said.
