A Racine man was soaking Sour Patch kids in LSD, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday in Racine County Circuit Court.
Ronald J. Romnek, 51, is charged with possession of LSD, marijuana and schedule I controlled substances all with intent to deliver and maintaining a drug trafficking place.
Investigators were conducting an ongoing investigation on Romnek and another subject. They searched Romnek’s home in the 2800 block of Arthur Avenue on June 5. Among the items they reported finding were a plastic container in the freezer that contained 20 Sour Patch Kid candies that had been soaked with LSD. There were another 12 squares of gel pieces of LSD, and candy that contained marijuana oil or extract.
Investigators reported Romnek was selling the candies. There was also a container that had suspected marijuana and another with suspected MDMA/Molly. Romnek told investigators he was selling marijuana to help make money while he recovered from hip surgery.
He reportedly told investigators he was “holding on to (the candies) and giving them to people,” and that he was not completely sure of the items.
Romnek is in custody on a $10,000 cash bond. He is due in court June 14 for a preliminary hearing.
