Come to the Fair. The 2017 Racine County Fair is now underway at the Fairgounds, 19805 Durand Ave., Union Grove. Every day – from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. – you’ll find family fun at every turn. There’s live music, a daily dog obedience demonstration, circus acts, a lumberjack show, farm animals and all kinds of food-on-a-stick! The grandstand evening lineup features Chasin’ Mason on Thursday, truck and tractor pulls on Friday, Nashville recording artist Easton Corbin on Saturday and the demolition derby on Sunday. That’s Italian! Great food and greater fireworks sums up the Roma Lodge Italian Fest this weekend at Paul P. Harris Rotary Park, 5 Fifth St. There’s live music on two stages, mostaccioli dinners Friday and Sunday and Italian baked chicken on Saturday. You can grab great pizza, bomber sandwiches and pastries any time. Some of the best fireworks you’ll see all summer are presented on the lakefront at 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Festival hours are 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, 12 noon to 1 a.m. Saturday and 12 noon to 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults. Children ages 12 and younger admitted free.
Last chance. The Haylofters presentation of the musical “Cabaret” wraps up its run this Thursday through Sunday at the Malt House Theatre, 109 N. Main St., Burlington. This Broadway hit, set in a 1920s-era Berlin nightclub, will have you tapping your feet and singing along. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. A bonus show. Over Our Head Players presents a special bonus performance to start its 26th season. Cast members will give a staged reading of “Surviving Life” a series of three short plays that offer a look at people and life circumstances. Show time is 8 p.m. Saturday at the Sixth Street Theatre, 318 Sixth St. Admission is $10. Reservations are recommended. 262-632-6802.
Shopping deals. The Burlington area will be ready for you with Maxwell Street Days this Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Local retailers have marked down seasonal merchandise and put it on the sidewalks for bargain hunters. At Wehmhoff Square in Downtown Burlington, you’ll find artisans, crafters and vendors. The Burlington Historical Society holds its annual Ice Cream Social from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the nearby Pioneer Cabin. If that’s not enough, there are yard sales all over town both days. Summer foods. One of the best things about summer is all the great, fresh food. Borzynski’s Farm and Floral, 11600 Washington Ave., Mount Pleasant, celebrates a Taste of Summer from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. There’s food and wine sampling, grilling demonstrations, menu ideas and music from Downtown Harrison. Free admission with two non-perishable food items for the Racine County Food Bank.
