Party on the Pavement, Racine’s biggest street festival, is only getting bigger this year while celebrating its 15th anniversary.
The free event will be held from noon to 7 p.m. on September 23 in downtown Racine. Hosted by Downtown Racine Corporation (DRC), the festival has grown this year to include two extra blocks of College Avenue. With live music, shopping, food vendors, carnival games and an expanded Kids Zone, the day caters to Racinians of all ages.
Family Fun
The Sports Zone on College Avenue will boast breakdance battles, dance demonstrations, and appearances by Racine’s own roller derby team, the Root River Rollers. Accompanying the Sports Zone is the Kid Zone, with inflatable bounce houses and a new addition: an inflatable obstacle course for kids of all ages. Festival-goers can get moving with carnival rides and games, and it wouldn’t be Party on the Pavement without a car show displaying unique and antique cars in the heart of downtown.
Food and Drink
Food vendors will be featured throughout downtown, including favorites like Q’s Stomach Fuel’s waffle burgers and downtown restaurant staples. Pepi’s Pub and Grill, 618 6th St., is celebrating in a new way this year by hosting their own Oktoberfest within the festival. The 6th Street bar will feature an Oktoberfest-themed outdoor beer trailer as well as a “Tap Takeover” from Wisconsin’s own Ale Asylum brewery.
Prizes
If you’re looking to take something big home, Pepi’s Oktoberfest-within- a-fest will host not only beer but also a chainsaw carving event and chainsaw giveaway. Not big enough? DRC has partnered with Indian Motorcycle to raffle off a motorcycle to one lucky winner. Tickets are available now through Indian Motorcycle, DRC, and GLR, and the winner will be announced at Indian Motorcycle of Racine, 522 6th St., at 7:30 p.m.
Music
The official music lineup included below, is spread over multiple outdoor stages. But don’t be surprised to hear plenty of other live acts performing at spaces throughout the downtown area. A variety of acts – including the recently-reunited 80’s band Take Me – will be playing throughout the day. Grab a beer, a bite, and celebrate 15 years of partying on the pavement!
