Betty Elaine Geiss, 77, passed away on Friday at her home surrounded by her family. Betty was born in Merrill, Wisconsin on March 5, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Fred and Grace (Nee: Bersin) Pike. Betty graduated from Merrill High School and had been a resident of Racine since 1961.
On May 27, 1961, she was united in marriage to Richard Geiss. Betty was a member of Racine Assembly of God where she also worked part time in the office and kitchen for 18 years. Betty enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, gardening, camping, and traveling especially to Israel. Above all it was time spent with her family she treasured the most. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her husband, Richard of 56 years; sons, Gerald (Joann) Geiss, Steven (Lori) Geiss; 10 grandchildren, Kayla (Bradley), Kylea, Louis (Ashley), Jacob, Jacquelyn, Samantha, Brandon, Austin, Bailey and Lucas; 4 sisters, Dorothy Richardson, Eleanor (Eugene) Kreitman, Shirley (Lane) Foote and Beverly Turpen; brother-in-law, Alfred Geiss; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 4 siblings, Dolores (Fred) Hedtcke, Alfred (Jean) Pike, Frances (Harold) Steinbach, and Norma (James) McPartland; brothers-in-law, Francis Richardson and Larry Turpen; sister-in-law, Claray Geiss; 3 nephews, Allen Steinbach, Tom McPartland and Mike Hedtke.
Funeral services will be held at Racine Assembly of God on Friday at 11:30 a.m. with Reverend Ed Walker officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday at the church at 10 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials to Racine Assembly of God have been suggested.
