Update: Maurice Jorden III has been identified as the man arrested Tuesday during a traffic stop at Highway 32 and Chicory Road. He is being held in the Racine County Jail on a $100,000 bond and is charged with multiple felonies, including:
- Possession of heroin with intent to deliver
- Possession of cocaine with intent to deliver
- Possession of a firearm by a felon
- Maintaining a drug trafficking place
Jorden is also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted, he faces up to 53-1/2 years in prison. Jorden will next be in court October 19 for his preliminary hearing.
Original story: Officers with the Racine County Metro Drug Unit say they recovered cocaine and heroin with a combined street value of $4,000 during search warrants executed Tuesday in the City of Racine.
A 31-year-old man was booked into the Racine County Jail on pending drug and weapons charges after police executed two search warrants; one during a traffic stop while the man and a woman were returning to Racine from Illinois and the other at the man’s residence.
We are not naming the man because he has not been formally charged.
According to a press release from the Racine County Sheriff’s Department, officers on Tuesday conducted a high-risk traffic stop during which the female passenger admitted she had drugs on her person. Police recovered 12.4 grams of heroin and 22 grams of cocaine, worth around $4,000.
The second search warrant was served on the man’s residence. There, officers recovered a .38-caliber handgun, ammunition, various drug paraphernalia and several cell phones.
