A Kenosha woman with a history of drug addiction and charges of endangering an infant smuggled heroin into the Racine County Jail and then overdosed on them.

Jamie White, 35, was charged Wednesday in Racine County Circuit Court with multiple felonies and misdemeanors, including possession of a controlled substance, bail jumping and possession of an illegally obtained prescription. These charges come on the heels of felony recklessly endangering charges last June when an infant in her care ingested a potentially fatal amount of methadone.

According to the criminal complaint, on Oct. 3 White smuggled heroin, a fist-sized bag of pills and a tourniquet wrapped in a surgical glove inside her vagina. Five hours after she was booked for bail jumping, she was found unresponsive in her cell with a needle in her hand, and deputies used Narcan to revive her.

White told deputies that she injected the heroin when the other women in her cell weren’t paying attention. The pills she smuggled were identified as primarily anti-seizure, opiate withdrawal, and pain medications.

White is being held on a $100,000 cash bond and remains in the Racine County Jail. She is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 18 for her preliminary hearing.
