Racine firefighters say a fire that displaced seven adults and two children from an apartment building injured two of the residents.
Two adults – a man and a woman – were injured escaping from the fire. The woman required medical attention, but the man fled the scene.
The Racine Fire Department was called at 9:49 a.m. Thursday to an apartment building at 315 11th Street for reports of a fire. The 911 caller said that everyone was evacuated, but firefighters discovered a man and woman burned while they were escaping.
The fire remains under investigation, and the damage so extensive that building residents are not being allowed to return.
