Two people were charged Wednesday after a drive-by shooting happened in the 1600 block of Albert Street at 1:21 p.m. Monday.
Isiah Degroot, 17, of Racine, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety (party to a crime). If convicted of all charges, Degroot faces up to 38 years three months in prison and/or fines up to $85,000.
Kiatreveon Ford, 17, of Racine, was charged with obstructing a police officer. If convicted of the charge, he faces up to nine months in jail and/or fines up to $10,000.
A third person was also arrested, but charges have not been issued by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.
According to a press release by the Racine Police Department, a person called the police at 1:21 p.m. Monday saying his car had been shot at following an altercation with the driver of another car. The three people inside the car displayed guns and shot at the man as he drove away.
During the investigation, police were able to get a description of the car and the occupants. The car was found on Westwood and Northwestern avenues. The three people matching the man’s description — Degroot, Ford, and the third person — were seen walking in front of Gilmore School and were arrested.
Police also found weapons inside the car. No one was injured during the incident, but the schools in the area were made aware of the incident.
