A man is behind bars after Caledonia police say he stole over $5,000 in cash and food from Brossman’s Meat Market.
Daniel Arndt, 45, was charged Wednesday by the Racine County District Attorney‘s office with one felony count of theft from a business. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and/or up to $10,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint, officers were called Tuesday to Brossman’s for a report of an employee stealing from the business. An employee told police that Arndt was a part-time employee, and store surveillance shows him from Oct. 16 to Nov. 18, 2017 ringing up customer purchases as a “no sale” and then pocketing the money.
Officers say there are 200 separate incidents recorded of Arndt stealing either money or food or both. The total amount taken was $5,262.11.
Online court records indicate Arndt was assigned a $100 cash bond at his initial appearance Monday. He will next be in court Dec. 20 for a preliminary hearing.
