Drivers once again have access to westbound Highway K from I-94.
While the reconstruction of the interchange is scheduled to continue through the spring, traffic started moving westbound again Thursday. Project notes on the 94 North-South Freeway Project website confirmed that a lane in each direction will be open.
Work on Highway K got underway earlier this summer, and the scope of work includes:
- Improving the roadway both east and west of the expressway for about three-quarters of a mile
- Adding traffic lights at the east frontage road intersection for east- and westbound traffic
- Adding stop signs for the north and south directions
The length of Highway K under I-94 is not part of the project.
All told, the cost of the reconstruction is $6.1 million.
