UPDATE: A couple was arrested Sunday after they stole a Salvation Army red kettle last week. They told police they took the kettle to support their heroin habit, according to a press release by the Caledonia Police Department.

The couple was arrested with the help of the Kenosha Police Department Christmas Eve. Police recovered the red kettle. Their names are being withheld until charges have been issued by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.

ORIGINAL STORY: Caledonia Police are searching for a woman suspected of stealing a Salvation Army Red Kettle Thursday afternoon from the entrance of a Walgreens, 5005 Douglas Ave.

The theft happened at 6:30 p.m., according to a press release by the Caledonia Police Department.

The 30-year-old woman stood in the vestibule near the kettle and posed as an attendant for about an hour. It was not manned at the time. A second person, who was driving a dark-colored minivan, backed the vehicle into a parking stall near the front of the store. The woman then put the kettle in the minivan and they left the scene.

Anyone with information should call the Racine County Communications Center at (262) 886-2300.
