A woman charged in November with cashing 18 fraudulent checks was in court Wednesday after a warrant had been issued for her arrest.
The theft was noticed in June when the owner of the checkbook went to the bank to withdraw money, only to find his bank account overdrawn. Bank representatives informed him the checks were made out to Sabrina M. Ward, 39.

The owner told investigators that he met Ward at an auto shop, and that she would often come to his house uninvited. The 18 checks that were stolen ended up totaling $4,686.
Ward is charged with 18 counts of uttering a forgery and one count of personal ID theft. If convicted, she faces up to 114 years in prison and/or up to $190,000 in fines.
Racine County Court Commissioner Alice Rudebusch set a signature bond of $1,000 and a preliminary hearing for 9 a.m. January 25.
