A Racine man was charged after he sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl over the course of several days, according to a criminal complaint by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.

Joshua Vinson Sr., 38, of Racine, was charged by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office with repeated sexual assault of a child, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and four counts of felony bail jumping.

If convicted of all charges, Vinson faces up to 105 years seven months in prison and/or fines up to $100,500.

According to the criminal complaint, an 11-year-old girl told police that Vinson had touched her vagina while she was laying in bed with him and her mother. He also continued to touch her inappropriately over the course of several days.  The girl waited until she got to school to tell someone “because she was scared and did not want to ’cause drama.’”

The girl told police that Vinson sells cocaine in baggies and he gives it to people “in his room or in the car.” On New Year’s Eve, the girl said she was at a hotel with her mother while Vinson had a party at their home. When they returned, Vinson had left cocaine powder on the counter.

When police conducted a search warrant at Vinson’s home, they found several cell phones that had white residue on them, drug paraphernalia, and a plastic bag with white powder residue.

During an interview with police, Vinson denied that any physical contact had happened.

Vinson is being held at the Racine County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond. A preliminary hearing has been set for 8:30 a.m. Jan. 24.

Vinson has an open case for stalking, possession of narcotic drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia from June 13, 2017. He was out on a $5,000 bond. In that case, he took a plea deal and is expected to be sentenced on Feb. 19.
