Paul J. Bauer, 94, passed away on Monday at his residence.  Paul was born in Robbinsdale, Minnesota on September 25, 1923, and was the son of the late George and Elizabeth (Nee:  Strunk) Bauer.

During World War II he proudly served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre from 1942-1945 aboard the USS Biloxi and USS Mobile.  On July 8, 1946 he was united in marriage to Pauline E. Shirk who preceded him in death on November 15, 1992.  Paul retired from the Racine Journal Times where he was employed as a photographer for many years.  He was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church.  On November 10, 1998 he was united in marriage Pauline A. Duffy (Nee: Staley).  Paul’s passion was photography.  He enjoyed a good cigar, the outdoors, especially tending to his garden and his apple orchard.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Pauline; children, Cindy (Mark) Larson of Cedarburg, Paul (Sherry) Bauer of Appleton; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 stepchildren, Michael (Suzanne) Duffy of Rogers, AR, Robert (Karen) Duffy of Louisburg, KS, Kathy Duffy of Nebraska City, NE; 10 step-grandchildren; 26 step great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Staley of Philadelphia; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.  In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his son, David (Diane) Bauer; sisters, Irene Underberg, Mabel Weatherman; brother, Clarence Bauer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church with Reverend Jim Wenzel O.S.A. officiating.  Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m.. until time of Mass at 11 a.m.  Memorials to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
