A Racine man was charged by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office with a felony after he bit a Racine Police officer.
Bailey Scott Davis, 21, was charged with battery to a law enforcement officer. If convicted of the charge, Davis faces up to six years in prison and/or up to $10,000.
According to the criminal complaint, officers with the Racine Police Department were called to a report of Davis possibly having a seizure at 12:23 p.m. Tuesday at an apartment at 5627 Byrd Avenue. Rescue workers with the Racine Fire Department were not able to get Davis to respond to them, even though his eyes were wide open but very dilated. Davis’ girlfriend explained that Davis was out on probation for drugs.

When the woman had come home she found him “visibly different” and Davis told her that he felt dizzy and weird. He then fell to the floor.
When rescue workers tried to take Davis’ blood pressure, he became combative and started to kick and punch them.
“RFD rescue lost control of Davis and he was now actively fighting RFD personnel,” the complaint reads.
Davis continued to yell and threw RFD equipment all over the apartment. The officer tried to gain control over Davis, but he bit the officer’s right arm.
“Refusing to follow any command, order, or direction to stop, either by myself, RFD personnel and/or even pleas from (Davis’ girlfriend), Davis maintained a firm bite onto my outer forearm area, breaking the skin.”
After about 15 minutes of fighting, Davis calmed down and he was taken to the hospital. Rescue workers then treated the police officer for his wound.
Davis is being held on a $250 cash bond at the Racine County Jail. Racine County Court Commissioner Alice Rudebusch set a preliminary hearing for 8:30 a.m. Feb. 8.
