Joan M. Peterson, 86, passed away on Sunday at Ascension All Saints Medical Center. She was born in Racine on May 2, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Nels and Rose (Nee: Soens) Andersen.
She was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1949”. On June 27, 1953 she was united in marriage to Leonard D. Peterson, who preceded her in death on October 24, 2003. Joan was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She knitted beautiful creations and generously donated them to schools and nursing homes. Joan also enjoyed Schafskopf. More than anything she cherished time spent with her family.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Therese “Terri” Peterson, Heather (Mike) Schroeder, Eric (Karla) Peterson; her grandchildren, Shanah, Kyle and Stephene; her great-grandchildren, Zola, Natharia, and Charlize; sister-in-law, Marian Andersen; nieces, nephews, other relatives, many dear friends, and her cuddle buddies, Brutus and Marbles. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sons, John and Lenny; and brother, Jerome.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Private interment will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family have been suggested.
