The Racine Police Department is investigating a homicide in an apparent shooting that happened at 10:36 p.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of Arlington Avenue.

Officials with the Racine Police Department have not released the identity of the man who died after being shot, according to a press release.

Initially, the Racine County Joint Dispatch Center received calls reporting to shots being fired in the 2300 block of Arlington Avenue, then a possible crash involving a minivan striking a tree. The Dodge Caravan was found in the yard of a residence nearby.

But neighbors told the Racine County Eye that the man drove through three yards before he crashed into a concrete porch.

The man had been shot and was found inside the minivan unresponsive. Life-saving measures were performed but were not successful. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are still on scene. No other information is being released, the press release reads.

Investigators with the Racine Police Department, however, are interested in talking with people that have information about the crime. Any witnesses, or citizens with information, are urged to call the Racine Police Department Investigations Unit at (262) 635-7756.
