Illinois men charged after marijuana grow operation found
Joseph McCarthy and Christopher Neeve

Two Zion, Illinois men are facing felonies after officials with the Racine County Metro Drug Unit raided their home and found a marijuana grow house at 2037 Erie St.

Joseph M. McCarthy, 59, and Christopher Neeve, 34, were arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, manufacturing THC 50 to 200 plants, and keeper of a drug place.

According to officials with the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, agents from the Drug Unit executed a search warrant at 3 p.m. Friday. They learned in October that the home was not occupied, but was being used as a grow house for marijuana. After conducting surveillance on the home, McCarthy and Neeve emerged as suspects because investigators saw McCarthy and Neeve leaving the residence.

During the raid, agents found 90 marijuana plants in pots, 75 of them had just been harvested and were drying.

Charges have not been officially filed with the Racine County District Attorney’s Office. We will update the story when we receive more information.
