Three undercover drug purchases last fall could land a 38-year-old Racine man in prison for more than 30 years.
John N. Dean was charged by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office with three felony charges of manufacturing/delivering cocaine and one felony charge of maintaining a drug trafficking place with intent to deliver/distribute a controlled substance.
Each of the manufacturing charges carries a possible fine of $25,000 and 10 years in prison. The fourth felony count could bring a fine of $10,000 and three years and six months in prison.
In addition, because Dean is charged as a repeat offender and because the alleged offense occurred within 1,000 feet of a park, he faces an additional 36 years in prison if he’s convicted.
According to the criminal complaint:
A confidential informant on three occasions purchased cocaine from Dean at a residence in Racine, which is 520 feet west of Franklin Park and directly across from a daycare center. The cocaine weighed a total of 2.5 grams.
Court records indicate that Dean has a previous felony conviction for a second offense of possession of marijuana in Brown County.
Dean will be back in Racine County Circuit Court for a preliminary hearing April 25 at 9 a.m.
