Surrounded by his loving family, James R. Beaugrand, 86, passed away on Tuesday at his residence.   He was born in Racine on September 14, 1931, the son of the late Eugene and Helen (Nee: Hasenbein) Beaugrand, and was the last survivor of twelve children.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1949-1952.  On May 25, 1963 he married the love of his life Dianne S. Schink.  Jim was employed by the Racine Water Department for twenty-four years, retiring in 1994.  He enjoyed singing, dancing and was actively involved in the Penguin Players.  Very patriotic, Jim never missed the Fourth of July parade and his favorite movie was “Yankee Doodle Dandy.”  In his spare time he also enjoyed making beautiful ceramic art.  More than anything he cherished his family.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Dianne; his children, Kelley Beaugrand, Brett Beaugrand, Krissy Beaugrand, Heide Beaugrand; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Wednesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.  Private interment with Full Military Honors will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society have been suggested.

The world was a much better place with Jim in it – he could meet a stranger and within two minutes talking to him he would become a friend – Jim was a gentleman in the true sense of the word – he will be greatly missed and loved by all who knew him.
