Yorkville – A 25-year-old Racine man was hospitalized at Froedtert Hospital and is on life-support after he was involved in a motorcycle crash at 9:25 p.m. Sunday.

The man is not expected to survive, but he is on life support “per the wishes of the family,” according to a press release by the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.

Officials have not released the man’s name pending notification of all of his family members. The crash happened in the 17200 block of Durand Avenue

“Initial reports were that a motorcycle had left the roadway and the operator became separated from the cycle in a field,” the press release reads. “Witnesses found the operator and reported that he was not conscious and bleeding severely.”

When deputies and rescue personnel from the Union Grove-Yorkville Fire Department arrived, they called Flight for Life to take the man to Froedtert.

“It appears that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. The operator was also not wearing a helmet,” according to the press release.

Deputies are still investigating the incident. Another motorcycle rider was with the man at the time of the crash. The 26-year-old Mount Pleasant man was arrested for operating a motorcycle while impaired.
