Eight felony charges of personal identity theft were filed Wednesday against a 29-year-old Milwaukee man for his role in two Racine County incidents in December 2017 and February 2018.
Each of those felonies filed against Xavier T. Boone carries a fine of $10,000 and six years in prison. Boone is also charged with misdemeanor counts of theft, entry into a locked vehicle, criminal damage to property and fraudulent use of a credit card in the February incident, which carry a total fine of $40,000 and three years in jail.
In the December incident, Boone also is charged with two misdemeanor counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, which each carry a fine of $10,000 and nine months in jail. Boone is charged as a repeat offender as well.
According to the criminal complaint from the Feb. 8 incident:
A Village of Sturtevant police officer was dispatched to a local business for a theft from a vehicle complaint. The victim stated he had parked his vehicle, went to work, and when he returned, found a broken window, damage to the car door and that his wallet that contained cash and credit cards had been taken.
Police determined that a credit card had been used at a number of businesses in Racine, Kenosha, Pleasant Prairie and Gurnee (Ill.). Surveillance video showed a man later identified as the defendant making the purchases, which totaled $1,418.82.
According to the criminal complaint from the Dec. 2017 incident:
A woman reported to Racine police that her vehicle had been broken into in Kenosha County, that her credit card had been stolen and used at three businesses in the city. Surveillance video showed the defendant making purchases, which totaled $262.42.
Boone is expected back in court May 10 for an 8:30 a.m. preliminary hearing.
