A 38-year-old Racine man faces a number of criminal charges in two different cases filed Tuesday in Racine County Circuit Court after he tried to suffocate two teens.

Raymond F. Ellison Sr. is charged with two felony counts of strangulation and suffocation, two felony counts of physical abuse of a child and misdemeanor counts of knowingly violating a domestic abuse injunction and disorderly conduct in one case.

Each of the felonies carries a fine of $10,000 and six years in prison, while the misdemeanors carry a fine of $11,000 and a year in the county jail.

In the other case filed Tuesday, Ellison is charged with misdemeanor counts of using a computer message to threaten injury or harm and disorderly conduct. Both carry a fine of $1,000 and 90 days in jail.

According to the criminal complaint in the first case:

The police were dispatched to a residence March 16 for a report of a physical altercation between the defendant and two juvenile females. Because of a court-issued injunction, the defendant was not allowed in the residence.

One of the females stated the defendant suffocated her. When she began kicking him, he put a lot of pressure on her neck and shouted, “I’ll snap your neck if you kick me again.” After about 20 seconds, the defendant let the juvenile go. When she tried to call 911, he took the phone and grabbed her braids on the left side of her head.

The other female allegedly intervened, and the defendant forced the front of her face into the couch cushion, which restricted her breathing.

Ellison is due back in court in that case for a preliminary hearing May 16 at 8:30 a.m.

According to the criminal complaint in the second case:

In January, the police were dispatched to a residence for a report of a person making threats. The victim told police Ellison was threatening her via Facebook Live. He reportedly stated, “I will shoot up your house and blow your head off.”

Officers watched the Facebook feed and saw Ellison post, “You’re gonna need the Racine Police Department. I’m gonna load these guns up. I will blow off with this metal I got. I don’t care about going back to the pen.”

Ellison is due back in court for a pre-trial conference June 6 at 3:15 p.m.
