Six criminal charges were filed Thursday in Racine County Circuit Court against a 50-year-old man arrested for selling rifles and drugs to an undercover agent.

Reginald A. Brown faces five felony charges of possession of a firearm and one felony charge of possessing body arm as a convicted felon. The firearm charges each carry a fine of $25,000 and 10 years in prison, while the body armor charge carries a fine of $50,000 and 15 years in prison.

Court records indicate Brown has several previous criminal convictions, including felony convictions for burglary, fraud, third-degree sexual assault, and manufacturing/delivering heroin.

According to the criminal complaint:

A confidential informant relayed to police that Brown wanted him to take possession of his firearms and store them. On May 10, the two met, and the defendant moved the firearms and body armor from the trunk of his vehicle and placed them in the cargo area of the
informant’s vehicle.

Police searched the informant’s vehicle after the exchange and located five firearms, including an SKS assault-type rifle, along with a body armor vest.

Officers with the Racine Metro Drug Unit and the Racine County SWAT executed a search warrant and seized 1.5 grams of heroin, 2.6 grams of marijuana, three digital scales, packaging materials, $840 in cash and several hundred rounds of ammunition of various calibers.

Based on his 2015 conviction for manufacturing/delivering heroin and his 2013 conviction for the sexual assault, Brown is prohibited from ever legally possessing firearms and body armor in Wisconsin, the complaint states.

Brown, who is in custody on a $42,600 cash bond, is due back in court May 23 for a 9 a.m. preliminary hearing.
