Marie Martha McLeod, 88, passed away on Sunday surrounded with the love of her family following a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  She was born in Racine, Wisconsin on January 5, 1930, the daughter of the late Lucien and Marianne (Nee:Witkowski) Szymanski.

Marie graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 1948”.  She was a devoted mother who also worked at Hamilton Beach, Webster Electric and in her retirement the PDQ Store on Durand Ave.  She was a lifelong member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church.  Marie loved taking care of her children, sitting in the sun, and listening to music.  She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her children, Casey McLeod, Kimberly (Bill) Busarow, Richard (Sue) Anderson; daughter in-law, Joannia Kilgore Anderson; grandchildren, Brett Anderson, Brooke Anderson, Charlene (Greg) Plantz, Curtis and John Anderson; great grandchildren; brother, Raymond Szymanski; sister-in-law, Doris Szymanski; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth C. McLeod; her son, Gary Anderson; siblings, Hank, Dick, Lucille (Jim) McDonald, Eleanor (Ben) Wrzesinski, Delores (Elmer) Peterson, and Joanne Szymanski.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 12 p.m. with Reverend Allen Bratkowski officiating.  Private interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until time of service.  Memorials to the family have been suggested.
