Orville J. “Buck” Gleason, 83, passed away on Sunday. Orville was born in Crow Wing County, Minnesota on May 3, 1935, the son of the late Joseph and Emma (nee: Ruesch) Gleason.
Buck proudly served with the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War from 1953-1956. On June 27, 1959, he was united in marriage to Geraldine Yanny. Buck was employed with J.I. Case Co for fourteen years. Always the entrepreneur, Buck owned and operated Gleason Boats, Captain’s Cove Marina on 6th Street and co-founded Gleason Redi Mix with his son Bob. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Buck was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed leatherwork and working with anything mechanical. He will be best remembered for his deep love and devotion to his family.
Buck will be missed by Gerri, his wife of fifty nine years; children, Gary (Paula) Gleason, Robert (Ruby) Gleason, Colleen (Keith) Gleason-Burdick; his grandchildren, Samantha (Mathew) Cohen, Sarah (Rob) Buchanan, Alexandra (Steven) Mitchell, Matthew (Amber) Gleason and Rebecca Lynn Gleason; his great-grandchildren, Lucas Orville Cohen, Allyson Mitchell and Connor Gleason; brother, Arnold (Jane) Gleason; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 8, 2018, 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, with Pastor William Dietzler officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Memorials to the Veteran’s Home Boland Hall, Union Grove, St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church or to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
