A traffic stop Monday led police to a large amount of marijuana and cocaine and two felony charges filed Tuesday against a 40-year-old Racine man.
Terrance T. Lewis is charged by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office with felony counts of possession with intent to deliver cocaine and possession with intent to deliver marijuana, both as a repeat offender. The cocaine charge carries a fine of $100,000 and 25 years in prison, while the marijuana charge carries a fine of $10,000 and three years, six months in prison.
According to the criminal complaint:
An officer executed a traffic stop in the area of 17th and Mead streets, and when he approached the vehicle, could detect a strong odor of marijuana. During a search of Lewis, the officer located two large bags of suspected marijuana and one large bag of suspected crack cocaine, along with $430 in various denominations.
The marijuana, which tested positive, weighed 36.8 grams, while the cocaine, which also tested positive, weighed 20.8 grams.
Lewis is due back in Racine County Circuit Court for a preliminary hearing June 14 at 8:30 a.m.
