Two families were displaced from a home after a car fire spread to their residence early Thursday morning at 1007 11th St.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to a press release by the Racine Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to a report of a car on fire in the 800 block of 11th Street. En route, they found that the fire had extended into a home at 1007 11th Street. Crews quickly put out the fire and there were no injuries related to the fire.

Officials with the American Red Cross assisted the tenants — three adults and three children — from the lower unit of the home find another place to stay. The two tenants living in the upper unit made other arrangements to stay with friends.

The estimated loss is $35,000.
