UPDATE 5 p.m.: Officials with the Racine County Sheriff’s Department have just the two right northbound lanes on Interstate 94 at Kraut Road closed.
Traffic is still backed up going northbound from KR to Highway 20 and travel times are at about 15 minutes. Traffic going southbound on the Interstate from 7 1/2 Mile Road to Kraut Road is at about 19 minutes.
“Motorists are advised to use an alternate route to avoid the delays,” according to the DOT.
ORIGINAL STORY: Because of a vehicle fire, all northbound lanes on Interstate 94 at Kraut Road were closed at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
Motorists are being diverted away from the area at state Highway 20. All four lanes of traffic are backed up. Travel times for northbound traffic on I-94 coming from KR to Highway 20 are in excess of 23 minutes. Southbound traffic times from 5 1/2 Mile Road to Kraut Road are in excess of 20 minutes, according to the Wisconsin DOT.
The Highway 11 on-ramp for I-94 is also closed.
Motorists are advised to use an alternate route to avoid the delays.
