An undercover purchase of guns and body armor led to the execution of a search warrant and a number of criminal charges filed Tuesday in Racine County Circuit Court against a 50-year-old Racine man.

Reginald A. Brown is charged with felony counts of possession of narcotic drugs and maintaining a drug trafficking place. He also faces a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Brown was taken into custody this week on a warrant and returned to court for a hearing Tuesday afternoon. The two felonies carry a total fine of $20,000 and seven years in prison, while the misdemeanor carries a fine of $500 and 30 days in jail.

According to the criminal complaint:

The undercover purchase occurred May 10, when the defendant told the informant he was in possession of a .357 handgun and that he had a suitcase full of ammunition in his vehicle.

Six days later, the Racine County SWAT executed a search warrant at Brown’s residence, 1324 Marquette St., Upper Apartment. Police found suspected heroin, several digital scales, marijuana, a Ruger gun lock, ammunition and crack pipes. Inside the vehicle, police found a suitcase full of ammunition.
