A 52-year-old Racine man who served eight years in prison for a 2001 conviction of incest with a child faces 10 felony counts of possession of child pornography after an investigation in 2017.
Each of the charges filed Wednesday in Racine County Circuit Court against Darrell T. Sykes carries a fine of $100,000 and 25 years in prison.
Sykes, who is being held in the Racine County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond, is due back in court for a preliminary hearing June 27 at 8:30 a.m.
According to the criminal complaint:
Police in October 2017 responded to a city residence, where they met with the defendant’s girlfriend. She stated she attempted to use his Play Station to access YouTube and inadvertently located images of suspected child pornography on the system.
The system was turned over to police, who found 223 still images of juvenile females ages 3 to 16. In each of the images, the children were naked and posed in sexually suggestive positions. The images were reportedly downloaded between June 22 and Oct. 2, 2017.
In October, the female reported to police that she found a second USB storage device. Police found approximately 392 images that were downloaded between April 16-30, 2017.
