Gordon J. Peterson “Gordy”, 65, passed away Friday surrounded by his family. He was born in Racine on December 25, 1952, the son of the late Gordon and Gloria (Nee; Smith) Peterson.
He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church where on October 9, 1982 he was united in marriage to Karen Mattie. Gordy was employed by SC Johnson Wax for 38 years until his retirement. An avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed hiking, hunting and fishing. Gordy especially cherished time with his family and granddaughters.
Surviving are his wife; Karen; daughter, Nicole (Peter) Schubilske; granddaughters’ Quinn and Peyton; sister, Genette (John) Biggs; brother, Gary Peterson; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, Greg Mattie, Scott (Ginni) Mattie, Gary (Sue) Mattie, Kim (Mark) Loranger; nieces, nephews other relatives and dear friends.
A Celebration of Gordy’s life will be held on Thursday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Preservation Hall, 740 Lake Avenue. There will be a private service for immediate family only at a later date. Memorials to Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church, Milwaukee County Zoo (New Otter Habitat) or to Fishing Has No Boundaries were suggested by the family.
