CALEDONIA – Police are searching for a robbery suspect who held a pregnant clerk at gunpoint Monday afternoon at Deli Food Express, 3100 6 Mile Rd.
The clerk told officers that a man walked into the store brandishing a gun and demanded cash from her, according to a press release by the Caledonia Police Department.
“While giving the robber an undisclosed amount of money, a customer entered the store, and the robber ordered the 38-year-old man to get on the ground,” the press release reads.
The suspect fled the scene on foot. An individual in a car followed the suspect. Officers responded to the scene and a perimeter was set up around a residence at Indian Trail and Lamberton Road. Officers with the Mount Pleasant Police Department and a K-9 officer from the City of Racine cleared the property, but the suspect was not found.
The suspect is described as a black male with a light complexion, and about five-foot eight-inches to five-foot ten-inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a black cloth covering his face, baggy blue jeans, black gloves and white shoes.
